Leon S. Barton, 73, of Parkersburg passed away at his residence Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005.
He was born March 4, 1932, in Wirt County, a son of the late Jesse and Girtha Cline Barton. Mr. Barton was a U.S. Army veteran and retired as a self-employed contractor.

He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Jackson and husband, Harold, of Mineral Wells and Amy Dunbar of Parkersburg; five sons, Daniel Barton of Mineral Wells, Randy Barton and his wife, Darlene, of Rockport, Jeff Barton and his wife, Karen, of Parkersburg, Darren Barton of Washington, W.Va., and William Lockhart of Florida; five sisters, Dora Cowan and Marjorie Eckard, both of Akron, Ohio, Marie Hardbarger and Rose Hardbarger, both of Elizabeth, and Beatrice Oliver of Parkersburg; two brothers, Pearl Barton of Parkersburg and Denzil Barton of Mineral Wells; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Opal Hardbarger and Gladys Hays; and one brother, Robert Barton.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike St., south Parkersburg, with the Rev. Melvin Conley officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Wirt County.
