Funeral services for Dr. C. J. Bedingfield, 67, of Cadwell, prominent Laurens County citizen and business man, will be held at 3pm Wednesday at the Cadwell Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Franks officiating. Burial will be in the
Cadwell Cemetery. Dr. Bedingfield died late Tuesday morning in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements and active pallbearers will be L. K. Smith, Ed Herrin, Ed Griffith, Delmas Bedingfield, Herbert Bedingfield, and Adgar Bedingfield. Dr. Bedingfield's body will be placed in
the church at 2:00pm Wednesday to lie in state.
A lifelong resident of Laurens County, son of the late Bennett Jackson Bedingfield and Winfred Fann Bedingfield, he was a retired pharmacist and farmer, vice president of Farmers Clearing Bank of Cadwell, and operated a gin
and warehouse in Cadwell. Dr. Bedingfield served as mayor of Cadwell for 20 years, was a Shriner and Member of the Dublin Elks and Moose Lodges.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Burch Bedingfield of Cadwell; two daughters, Mrs. Betty B. Burch of Cadwell and Mrs. Connie B. Daniel of Rentz;three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha B. Hudson and Mrs. Eva B.
Cameron, both of Cadwell; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
