Henry was the son of Daniel French b. Epping NH and Sarah Wingate Flagg b. Chester NH.
He was the father of Daniel Chester French the renowned Sculptor best known for the sitting Lincoln Memorial in Washington DC and the Minute Man statue in Concord.
Henry was a Lawyer, a Judge and an Assistant US Treasury Secretary. He also authored a book titled "Farm Drainage" which described the way a particular type of drain was used called a "French Drain"
