He & wife Eliz died within days of each other during the cholera epidemic of 1851. S/o Joseph Daughtery. Bro-Newton & Wm.∼S/o Joseph Dougherty and Patsy Rafferty. He married Elizabeth B. Overbey, March 2, 1837 in Pendleton Co., Kentucky. John and Elizabeth died within several days of one another in 1851 and are buried together.
