Louie C. Vieregge

Louie Charles Vieregge, age 74, long time resident of Hill County, who won statewide recognition through the press two years ago by outstanding victory gardens, died at the family residence, 1003 East Elm street, Sunday afternoon, January 7, at 3:25 o'clock. Mr. Vieregge had been ill for the several weeks.
Funeral services were held at the Marshall and Marshall chapel at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. R.G. Harthcock. Interment was in the Peoria cemetery.
He had resided here eleven years and took pride in his gardens working them by using his chair and walking stick to steady himself.
Mr. Vieregge was born at Pascagula, La, Aug. 18, 1870. He came to Texas at the age of 10 locating at Bastrop.
He married to Miss Bessie A. Gilliand, Nov. 26, 1905. Mrs. Vieregge passed away Feb. 4, 1934.
Mr. Vieregge was a member of the Luthern church at Bastrop, Texas.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Laura B. Allen of Blum and Miss Pearlie Mae Vieregge of Hillsboro; one grandson, Louis Neil Allen; one sister, Mrs. E.S. Pinkert of Lubbock, and two brothers, W.J. Vieregge of Levelland and Henry Vieregge of Blum.
