1963 ~ 2006
Chip Vernon Allred, age 43, of Altamont, died August 12, 2006 of an apparent heart attack. He was an organ and tissue donor.
He was born February 2, 1963 in Vernal to Jack K. And Verna Thacker Allred.
He married Lily Jane Ames September 9, 1983. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. Lily died May 30, 2006.
Chip graduated from Altamont High School in 1981. He was first employed by burke Lindsay Oilfield service. He later worked for Utex and was currently working for El Paso as Construction Foreman.
Chip was a loving father, husband and brother. He was a friend to everyone who knew him. He put his family first and always did all he could to help those around him. Next to Lily, his children were the most important thing in his life. He loved to camp, fish, hunt and ride 4-wheelers with his family.
Chip's father taught him carpentry and he carried on the family trade, becoming a master carpenter. He always made his surroundings better because he was there. Chip was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was currently the Mayor of Altamont City.
Chip is survived by his children, Baily, Kolby and Kade; brother, Robert (Saundra) Allred, Bridgeland; sisters, Jeane (Ray) Lambert, Riverton; Doris (David) Hislop, Vernal; Gwen (Michael) Fisher, Altonah; Helen (Jay) Abbott, Duchesne.
He is also survived by his father and mother in-laws, Leo & Shirley Ames, Altonah; grandmother-in-law, Arda Ames; brothers and sisters-in-law, Steven & Laurie Ames, Altonah; Ken & Teresa burdick, Roosevelt; Dean & Leslie Thacker, Altamont; Bryan and Sandy Ames, Bluebell; and many nieces and nephews.
Chip was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Janet Allred, and wife, Lily.
Funeral services held Tuesday, August 15, 2006, at the Altamont LDS Stake Center where friends and family may call Monday evening from 6-8 pm and Tuesday from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Burial in the Altonah Cemetery under the direction of the Hullinger Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers an account has been set up at American First Credit Union on behalf of the children.
