RINCON-Annette "Maw-Maw" Vaughn, 73, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008.
She was born Aug. 26, 1935, to James Kye and Lillie Mae McDonald in Montgomery County. She has resided in Chatham and Effingham County since 1957. She was an active member of the Garden City Primitive Baptist Church. She retired from Kroger after 25 years of service.
It has been said by many that because of her sweet personality and loving heart she was one of a kind. She lived a blessed life and was the happiest when she was spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Johnny Ray McDonald, and her sisters, Cuba Lee Williford and Melba Cowart.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her devoted husband of 55 years, Cannie "Paw-Paw" Vaughn; four adoring children, Connie Ricker (Bubba) of Guyton, Davy Vaughn (Julie) of Guyton, Janet Jordan (Buddy) of Guyton, and Donna Kessler (Kerry) of Rincon; her loving grandchildren, Brian Ricker (Christi), Kris Ricker, Justin Scholl (Ashley), William Jordan, Ansley Kessler, Davy Vaughn, Janna-Leigh Jordan and Stephen Vaughn; honorary grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Moore; her precious great-grandchildren, Alexis Ricker, Alaina Ricker, Halle Ricker, Noah Ricker, and Reis Scholl; two brothers, Kenneth McDonald of Walterboro, S.C., and Jack McDonald of Vidalia; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Friday at Garden City Primitive Baptist Church, with the body lying in state from 1-2 p.m.
Interment will follow in Effingham Memorial Gardens.
Remembrances can be given to Garden City Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 7623, Garden City, GA 31408.
On behalf of Mrs. Vaughn, her family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Blankenship, Dr. Lorenz, Dr. Rollins, Nurse Amy Jones, and all of the nurses and staff at the Candler Intensive Care Unit who worked diligently with Mrs. Vaughn through her illness and became a part of the Vaughn family in a very trying and difficult time.
