Gordon Hayes Evard, age 66, of Panorama Village, TX passed away on the morning of March 5, 2012 at home as he was preparing to go play golf. He died of natural causes. Gordon was born on January 17, 1946 at St Joseph Hospital in Houston, TX. Gordon graduated from Humble High School in Humble, TX in 1965 and then proudly joined the Air Force in July of 1965 and served his country till January 1969.

He married his loving and devoted wife, Pamela Gail Evard, on October 15, 1994 in a torrential downpour at Vargos Restaurant in Houston, TX. Pamela's father, Claude Sloan, always teased Gordon and Pamela that they should renew their vows so it would rain and fill the lake up like it did the day they got married and continued to rain for days that brought Lake Conroe out of its banks.

He was currently employed with Lowes in the Woodlands TX as their commercial driver. He worked previous to that for US AG Recycling in Waller, TX for over 10 years as their General Manager. In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and dancing. His MOST favorite of those was to play golf with his buddies in the NBA Group and Lighthitters Group at the Village Golf Club. He and Pamela also played in Couples Tournaments whenever the schedule allowed. He was a big fan of Tiger Woods and had the rare opportunity to mark Tiger's ball when it landed in the rough while marshalling at The Tour Championship at the Champions Golf Club. Tiger handed him the flag marker and thanked him. It made his day.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, August Evard, Paul and Ernestine Meeker; his brothers, James Meeker and Mark Meeker; his sister, Alisa Holmes; and a great granddaughter, Heather Rose.

Gordon is survived by his wife, Pamela Gail Evard; sons, Brian Scott Evard and Heath Michael Smith and his wife Robyn Smith; his daughter, Nicole Ellen Irene Martin and her husband David Alan Martin; 5 grandchildren, Angel, Trevor, Gavyn, Payge and Garrett; two brothers, Hubert Evard and Terry Evard; sisters, Joan Lohse, Cynthia Utsey and June Caldwell; along with numerous nieces and nephews

There will be a Celebration of Life Service at The Village Golf Club, 73 Greenbriar Drive, Panorama Village, TX 77304 on Sunday, March 11, 2012 from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. His ashes will be placed in a niche in a columbarium at the Houston National Cemetery on Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston, TX with a full military honors service precisely at 9:30 AM on Monday, March 12, 2012.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Pamela Evard, 70 Rolling Hills East, Conroe, Texas 77304 to offset the funeral expenses.

Cashner Funeral Homes handled all arrangements and can be contacted at 936-756-2126. The website link to post a message to the family for the next 30 days is www.cashnerconroe.com.
