LIFE STORY OF RHODA ELVIRA TEEPLES

There isn't much known about Rhoda Elvira Teeples but we are excited and grateful to Marlin for what information he has found for us to be able to put a short history of her in her family history book.

Rhoda Elvira Teeples was born 23 Sept 1857, the first child of George Bentley and his second wife Joanna Case Worden, at Fort Supply, Wyoming. By the 29 Sept 1857 the Teeples family including Joanna and her infant daughter Rhoda Elvira were starting their journey back to the Salt Lake Valley. They probably went back to Provo.

We know they went to Eden and Ogden because on 5 April 1860, a son Jacob Amos was born to George Bentley and Joanna at Ogden

Also twin daughters were born 27 April 1862 Ogden, Weber County, Utah but these twins died young. Antoinette died 8 March 1863 and Marietta died on 2 May 1866 and they are buried in the Ogden Cemetery.

These four children were the only ones born to George Bentley and Joanna. Between the two families there were fourteen children with Rhoda Elvira being number 12. George Bentley And Hulda Colby had a daughter only one year older than Rhoda and her name was Louisa, she was the last child of the first family.

I'm sure these two girls had lots of fun growing up and playing together doing aIl the things of working and sharing with each other. Joanna was a school teacher and taught Rhoda Elvira to read and write and taught her Gospel principles.I'm sure she also helped all the children with their schooling.

Rhoda Elvira married Newell Dayton Green on 12 Nov 1871. No record was found of the place. We also know Rhoda Elvira had a son out of wedlock whose name was ERNEST CROSSLAND.

In the 1880 census we find George Bentley, Joanna, and their grandson with them. He was three years old and his name was ANDREW AVERY GREEN, the son of Rhoda Elvira and Newell Green. This would make hiS birthday about 1877. There is no record of any more children.

Newell Dayton Green was born 13 Jan 1856 in Sacramento, Sacramento County, Calif. the son of Allen Madison and Viana (Potter) Green.

Rhoda Elvira spent her entire life living at Holden Millard County, Utah until after she married.
Rhoda Elvira died 8 Jan 1886. No burial place was found. This would have made her only 29 years old.
