Arnold L. "Arne" Anderson, age 100 of Hartington, Nebraska died on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Hartington.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington with the Rev. Katherine Russell officiating. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne, NE. Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Masonic service by the Wausa Masonic Lodge #251 at the Wintz Funeral Home in Hartington. Visitation will continue on Saturday at church one hour prior to services.

Pallbearers will be his grandchildren: Brian Anderson, Tracy Seagren, Stephanie Anderson, Darcy Gassel, Katy Kosnick, Travis Hofeldt and Tanya Spratt.

Arnold L. "Arne" Anderson, son of John T. and Oline (Julusmoen) Anderson, was born on the family farm south of Obert, Nebraska, on June 18, 1911. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Obert, Nebraska. He attended Obert School and began his life-long farming career on the family farm. On May 6, 1939, he married Twila Gildersleeve at Hartington, Nebraska. In March 1944, they purchased a farm in the Pearl Creek area west of Coleridge where they lived for 36 years. Arne retired from farming in 1980, when he and Twila moved into a home they built in Hartington.

Arne has been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington since 1946. He also served on the ASCS Board for 30 years serving as Board Chairman several terms; a fifty year plus member of the Order of Eastern Star; a fifty year plus member of the Masonic Lodge and served as Worshipful Master of Coleridge Masonic Lodge; Shriner with the Abu Behr Temple in Sioux City, IA; member of the Sons of Norway Lillehammer Lodge in Yankton, S.D.; volunteered many hours and served on the board at the Cedar County Historical Society and was a former 4-H leader. In 2008, Arne and Twila were honored as the "Most Distinguished Couple" at Hartington's Quasquicentennial Celebration.

Arne and Twila traveled to all 50 States, made 4 trips to Norway (Arne's ancestral home), visited many countries in Europe as well as Israel. They loved to play cards and have parties with neighbors, friends and traveling companions.

Arnold is survived by his three children: James (Gail) of Sherman Oaks, CA; Jerry (Mary) of Barrington, IL and Judy Hofeldt of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Twila; brother, Earl Anderson; sister, Caroline Dreesen; parents in-law, Jeremiah and Ann Shumway and great grandchildren, Nathan and Spencer Hofeldt.

Memorials may be directed to the Arnold and Twila Anderson Scholarship Fund at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hartington.
