Bucoda Man Passes Away at Denver
Funeral of Samuel Davies, Old Resident, Held at Bucoda Thursday Afternoon
The funeral of Samuel Davies who passed away Sunday, January 20, at a hospital in Denver, Colorado, after a few weeks illness, was held at the Bucoda Methodist church Thursday, January 24, at 2 p.m., with G. D. Morris officiating, under the auspices of the Oddfellows, with Newell and Hoerling of Centralia in charge. Interment was in the Forest Grove cemetery. Mr. Davies was born in Pennsylvania, September 5th, 1864 and was 70 years of age. He was a member of Skookumchuck Lodge at the time of his death and a member of the order for over 48 years. He came to Bucoda in 1886 and has lived there and in that vicinity ever since, until a year ago when he moved to Denver. He was a coal miner and mill worker but spent several years at Bordeaux working for the Mumber Lumber Company. He is survived by his widow, Maud Davies at Denver, Colorado; brother Robert Davies of Bucoda, four nephews, seven neices and eight stepchildren, and a host of friends.
