Briem, Alice (Longnecker)

passed away January 8, 2011 at the age of 95 in Cape Coral, FL. Alice was born in Olean, NY. At the age of 50, while raising eight children, Alice completed her Masters Degree in Art Education at Elmira College. She then worked for 15 years as an Art Teacher with the Horseheads Central School District. Alice was a long standing member of the Elmira Art Club and past recipient of the "Palette Award". She will be remembered for her positive, non-judgmental nature who welcomed everyone with open arms. Alice is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law; James (Patricia) Briem of St. Louis MO, Stephen Briem of Bath, NY, Michael Briem of Elmira, John (Mary) Briem of Elmira, William Briem of Elmira, and daughters and sons-in-law; Marcy (Carmen) Bevacqua of Charlotte NC, Alice (Jack) Cibelli of Cape Coral FL and Margaret (William) Lehner of Manassas VA. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. A family celebration of Alice's life, will take place at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver, NC on April 16, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alice's honor to the SPCA.
