Kathryn Louise McWhirter, age 91, of Alma, passed away on Sunday, May 12th, 2013 at Salem Township Hospital. She was a homemaker.

Funeral services for Katheryn Louise McWhirter will be held at one Thursday afternoon at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem, with Lillian Phillips presiding. Burial in the Alma Cemetery. Visitation after eleven Thursday afternoon until the time of the service.
Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association.

Survivors include daughter - Pam Hawkins and husband Gary of Alma, son - Gary McWhirter and wife Donna of Salem, brother - Kenneth Shanafelt and wife Eileen of Odin, sisters - Mildred Farthing of Odin and Mary Earl of Texas, five grand children and eight great grandchildren.

Katheryn McWhirter was born on February 21st, 1922. Her parents were Issac Shanafelt and Pearl (Alsup) Shanafelt. She married Lester McWhirther on June 28th, 1941. All three preceded her in death along with infant son -Timothy McWhirter.
