Raymond I. Foltz, 59, Dies Suddenly of Heart Attack
Vigo County Sheriff Raymond I. "Razz" Foltz, 59, of Terre haute, a former Clinton resident, died unexpectedly following a heart attack at 10:50 p.m. Saturday night at his residence.
Following Deputy Foltz's death, his wife Betty, an expectant mother, was rushed to Union Hospital where at 8 o'clock Sunday morning she gave birth to a daughter.
Mr. Foltz began his career as a law enforcement officer on the Clinton Police Force. he served in this capacity from 1926 to 1931 when he began his work as a deputy sheriff under the term of Harry Newland. From 1923 to 1954 he served on the state police force until he retired in 1954 as a sergeant. At the time of his death he was serving as deputy sheriff in Vigo county.
Mr Foltz was a member of the Central Christian Church of Terre haute, Society of Former Indiana State Police Officers, Jerusalem Lodge # 99, F.& A.M. and Vermillion Chapter, 125, Royal Arch Masons both of Clinton, Kerman Grotto, Scottish Rite Consistory and Zorah Temple Shrine, all of Terre haute.
Surviving are the wife, Betty jane and infant daughter; two brothers, Paul Foltz, route 3, Clinton, and Lloyd Foltz, Route 3, Terre Haute and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Frist Funeral Home with Rev. R. Powell Mead of the Central Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn memorial Park.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
