Susan Hupp was born in Green County May 22,1828; died January 6,1913, aged 85 years, 7 months and 5 days. She came to Jackson County when three years of age. She was united in marriage to Josuah Mize in 1843; born to their union 9 children-5 sons and 4 daughters, six of whom with the father preceded her to the grave.She was a faithful wife and a loving mother and a faithful christian, joining the church when 10 years old. She leaves 47 grand-children,38 great-grand-children and 6 great-great-grand-children.,two sons and one daughter,viz: George W. and James and Mrs. Hallie Furguson, with whom she made her home.She leaves a host of friends to mourn her death,but their loss is her gain. The funeral services were conducted at the U.B. church Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. Shutts officiating,after which the remains were laid to rest in the Acme cemetery
