Robert W. Lewis

BAXLEY - Robert Wade "Red" Lewis, 73, died March 23 at home.

The lifelong resident of Appling County retired as a distributor from Chevron Oil. He was a member of Holmesville Lodge No. 195 A&FM, and the Baxley Tar Tappers square dance group. He was a member of Melton's Chapel United Methodist Church.

SURVIVORS: his wife, Christine Lewis of Baxley; one daughter, Diane Lewis of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Larry W. Lewis of Baxley; a stepdaughter, Debra Thornton of Baxley; a step-son, Stacy Thornton of Jesup; five sisters, Maggie Sellers and Loyce Smith, both of Baxley, Katie Jones and Brenda Griffin, both of Savannah, and Ann Vincent of Douglas; three brothers, James Lewis of Brunswick, Walter Lewis of Statesboro and Roy Lewis of Baxley; a daughter-in-law, a step-daughter-in-law, a granddaughter and two step-grandsons.

FUNERAL: 3:30 p.m. today at Swain Funeral Home. Burial will be in Melton Chapel Cemetery with Masonic rites.
