Recitation of Rosary and a Mass of Christian Burial for Antonio "Tony" Garcia Avila will be said Saturday, Feb. 3 at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Lone Pine. MSG. Gilbert Meyer will officiate with Deacon John Burns. There will be no visitation. Mr. Avila was born in El Paso, Texas on April 14, 1923. A 45 year resident of Lone Pine, he had worked in maintenance for local residents for many years. he died in Costa Mesa, California on Jan. 25. Survivors include his brothers David Avila of Riverside, Marcos Avila of El Monte, Bernardno Avila of El Monte, and Manuel Castro of Dolomite; sisters Carmen and Mercedes Avila of Riverside, Helen Avila of El Monte, rosa Chavez and Ruby Ensminger of Lone Pine and Geneva Mills of Grandad Hills. Interment will follow the services at the Mt. Whitney Cemetery in Lone Pine.
