Vergie Close Hines, 100, of Magnolia, died Wednesday, April 3, 2002, at Sunrise Manor Nursing Home in Hodgenville. She was a member of Pikeview Baptist Church in Hart County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Creed Hines; a son, Howard Hines; her parents, Robert Lee and Liza Belle McCubbins Close; two sisters, Daisy Dobson and Delcie Griffin; two brothers, Sanford Close and Arvil Close; two grandsons; and a great-granddaughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Gladys Whitlow of Louisville; a son, Tom Hines of Magnolia; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at Dixon-Rogers Funeral Home in Magnolia with the Rev. Tim McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Pikeview Baptist Church Cemetery.
