Elaine M. Taylor, age 60 years, 8 months, 1 day, of Mattawan, went home to be with her Savior December 27, 2007.

Elaine was born April 26, 1947 in Lincoln, Michigan, the daughter of Stanley and Rose Barber. She was born into a newly saved Christian family so grew up in the church.

She was saved at the age of five at Sunday School.

She graduated from Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana, with a Bachelor of Arts in Education degree. She taught at Chime Street Elementary School in Kalamazoo for four years and then "retired" to raise a family.

She served as a volunteer staff member with Kalamazoo Youth for Christ for several years working with high school girls.

She moved to Winona Lake, Indiana, where Wayne graduated from Grace Theological Seminary.

She and Wayne hosted several young men in their home for a few years in a discipleship setting. Elaine became a "second mother" to a number of young men and women.

She lived in Miami, Florida, for three years as she and Wayne assisted in two church ministries.

After returning to Michigan she has enjoyed ministering at her local church, Lawton Evangelical Mennonite Church, where she started the Awana Children's Program and the Praise Team Worship Ministry. She was actively involved in the women's ministry, small groups and Bible Studies.

Elaine assisted Wayne in starting a micro-loan ministry to national pastor's wives in Kenya and Uganda Africa five years ago. She has traveled to both countries and personally met many of the loan recipients. She saw the benefits the increased income that resulted from growing their existing small cottage type businesses have brought to their families. They were able to better feed, clothe and educate their children.

Elaine enjoyed travel, hospitality, reading books and ministry through her church. Her favorite music was worship songs and country. She loved getting together for family events and doing crazy fun things with her many friends especially the zany times spent with her four sisters. Elaine's hope has always been in her active faith in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord.

She loved life serving her family, church and friends but most importantly her Lord. She told others when she gets to Heaven it will be just a blink of an eye "in eternal time" before her Christian family and friends will be joining her. II Corinthians 4:7, 16-18 "But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that his all surpassing power is from God and not from us." "Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
