Mrs. Sale, of Rappahannock Academy, passed away at her home on Racefield Farm. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edmond Walker Sale; a son, Edmond D. Sale; and her two brothers, Tyler Cecil Bruce and Clifton Faulkner Bruce. Era Gay left to cherish her memory a granddaughter who was the absolute joy of her life. She also left her daughter and her husband, all of Racefield Farm. She was also survived by several nieces, a nephew, two sisters-in-law, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Era Gay devoted her life to caring and doing for others as she cared for her husband for several years before his death, and for her mother who lived with her for five years before she passed. She loved working in her yard and sharing vegetables with her friends. She was a giving soul. According to her, her greatest accomplishment and joy in life was her granddaughter. Grandma Sale delighted in everything her granddaughter did and cherished each event that they shared together.

Era Gay was a lifelong member of Bowling Green Baptist Church and truly loved her church. She attended regularly and enjoyed the fellowship of her church friends that spanned the years.
