She was born to parents Riley Dewitt and Nora Jacobs Highsmith in Lakeland, Florida on December 10, 1924.
Jane graduated from Lakeland High School and received her BA from Florida State College for Women, Tallahassee.
On October 11, 1952 she married, Joseph Byron Adams who preceded her in death on January 8, 1978.
Jane has lived in Oak Ridge since June of 1956, worked as a part-time teacher's aide at Linden Elementary, and retired from MMES National Security Program Office at the K-25 facility.
Among her hobbies, she enjoyed flower arranging and playing contract bridge, receiving the regional master's rating with the American Contract Bridge League. Jane was a CONTACT volunteer (1978-1983) and a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was also a member of the First United Methodist Church Christian Homemakers Circle.
