Matney who was a rural mail carrier for 28 years, came to Vinita at age 19. He started working for the U.S. post office department in 1909. He had been retired for several years.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eleanor Matney, of the home, 502 N. Scarper St.; two daughters, Mrs. Marguerite Templin, Bartlesville, Ok.; Mrs. Marjoa Reineccius, Paris, Ark.; and five grandchidren.
Services were held in Luginbuel Chapel with Rev. W.E. Bowers of the Methodist Church, officiating.
