POWNAL -- Antoinette Rose Rousseau, 96, widow of Hilaire Rousseau, a former resident of Pownal and more recently of Pelham, N.H., died Friday, May 6, 2005, at Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Mass. following a brief illness.
Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada Sept. 11, 1908, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Matilda (Rheaume) Lampron. She received her education locally.
Mrs. Rousseau was first married to Valmore Barsalou who died in 1946. On Jan. 3, 1948 she married Mr. Rousseau at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington. Mr. Rousseau died Jan. 25, 1995.
Mrs. Rousseau was long time member of Sacred Heart Church in Bennington prior to moving to Pelham in 2001. She was also a member of AARP.
Survivors include two daughters, two sons, 26 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; two sisters, Claudia Barcus of Zepher Hills, Fla., and Claire Douglas of Williamstown, Mass.; a brother, Raymond Lampron of Bennington; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Rousseau was predeceased by two sisters and three brothers, Rosalia Gervais, Loretta Caron, Joseph, Lucien, Beltram and Alyre Lampron.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, May 9, 2005 at 2 p.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales at 2:30 p.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday from 12 noon till 2 p.m. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Contributions in Mrs. Rousseau's memory may be made to Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
