MARY ELIZABETH HALL was a daughter of an early day well known Carthage family. Her grandfather owned a well established livery barn, a large home across the street from the library and also a large farm northeast of town known as HALLWOOD FARM. Her grandmother perished in a fire that burned the famous farm home down.
Her death certificate reported that she had been a patient at the State Hospital #3 for 19 years and 7 months. The cause of her death was bronchial pneumonia and leutic meningo encephalitis (a medical condition that simultaneously resembles both meningitis, which is an infection or inflammation of the meninges, and encephalitis, which is an infection or inflammation of the brain.)
She was buried next to her mother in Park Cemetery under the direction of Knell Mortuary.
