Thomas "Tom" Deberry Sr was born on January 17, 1920 in Bogata, Tx to Dick and Abbie Wooley DeBerry. The family moved to Idabel in 1941 and farmed for some 40 years. He passed from this life in February 14, 2012 at Longview, TX at the age of 92 years and 27 days.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Barbara and brother Bill DeBerry of Idabel.
Tom attended Paris Junior College and ran track for the University of Texas until he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. While in the service he met and married Barbara E. Roark of New Orleans, Louisiana. They settled in Idabel after the war and raised four children.
He is survived by his son Tom DeBerry, Jr. and wife Nancy of Kilgore,TX., and his three daughters Barbara Utely, Carol and Ken Stufflebeam, both of Austin, TX and Debbie and James Butler of Idabel. Also surviving is his sister-in-law Verna DeBerry of Idabel. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Tom served many years on the Idabel School Board and along with his wife served in many capacities as long-time members of the First United Methodist Church of Idabel.
