MANVILLE - Germaine D. (Depot) Laferriere, 92, of Old River Road, died Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Oakland Grove Health & Rehabilitation Center, Woonsocket. She was the beloved wife of John E. Laferriere, and the late Alfred Malouin.
Born in St. Christine, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late Elois and Marie-Anne (Derocher) Dépôt, she had lived in Manville since 1954.
With her husband, she was an avid beekeeper, selling honey from a farmstand at their home. She was a member of the Worcester County Beekeeper Association, the R.I. Beekeepers, and the Bristol County Beekeepers. She was a communicant of St. James Church, Manville.
Besides her husband, she is survived by six sons, Robert Malouin, and his wife Mary, of Florida, Denis Malouin, and his wife Nancy, of Smithfield, Roger Malouin, and his wife Margo, of Lincoln, Fernand Malouin, and his late wife Linda, of Jamestown, Paul Malouin, and his wife Jane, of Central Falls, and Raymond Malouin, and his wife Christine, of Cumberland; three sisters, Simonne Verrière of Pawtucket, Florence Gagne of Canada, and Therese Landry of Canada; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Jean-Claude Dépôt, Léonard Dépôt, Conrad Dépôt, Marijane Nadeau, Rosaline Landry and Jeannette Turbid.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, June 23, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. from Bellows Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. James Church, 33 Division Street, Manville. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery, Manville.
