Daughter of Dr. Theodore Dwight Bradford, a physician, and Mrs. Matilda Rose Leverich Bradford. Her maternal grandfather, Charles P. Leverich, was president of the Bank of NY. Her paternal grandfather, Dr. Richmond Bradford, was a descendant of William Bradford, who became Governor of Plymouth Plantation in MA.

She and her husband moved to Tennessee after his retirement in 1939. He was an attorney.
