L. C. Vaughan, aged 56 years, died Sunday morning at his home, 341 Forty-second street, from Bright's disease, following a lengthy illness. The funeral was conducted from the residence yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. L. T. Wilson, D. D., pastor of the Newport News Baptist church, officiating. Burial was made in Greenlawn cemetery. Mr. Vaughan was a resident of this section before the establishment of Newport News, having resided here for more than twenty-eight years.

He is survived by his widow and six children, who are Mrs. J. A. Price, of Norfolk; L. C. Vaughan, Jr., of Monroe, N. C.; E. D., L. S., R. B. and T. A. Vaughan, of Newport News. He leaves one brother, T. H. Vaughan. The sisters of the deceased are Mrs. A. J. Pender, of Nansemond county; Mrs. J. W. Bell, of Nansemond county, and Mrs. John Coley, of this city.
