Forrest Anthony Sullivan, age 84, of Piedmont, passed away Friday, February 24, 2012 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. He was born June 6, 1927 in Wayne County. He graduated from Greenville High School and enlisted in the US Navy in 1945. He served on the USS Avery Island and participated in Operation Crossroads, the Atomic Bomb Test conducted at Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands. He was Honorably Discharged in 1947. He was a Mail Carrier for 28 years in Rockford, IL and retired to Piedmont, where he drove a school bus for Clearwater School for many years. He loved his garden and his St. Louis Cardinals. As a young man, he was a well know pitcher for the Fast Pitch Softball League in Rockford. He was of the Catholic faith.

He was married to Patricia Lawler in 1946 and she passed away June 21, 1962. He was then married to Helen Cleary January 10, 1963 at Rockford.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hattie (Allen) Sullivan, 2 brothers, Floyd and Ernest Sullivan, and 3 sisters, Mabel Julian, Dorothy Hughes and Carmel Chiles.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Sullivan, of Piedmont, 6 children, Dennis Sullivan, of Texas, Sherry Kalinowski, of Chicago, IL, Edward Sullivan, of Nashville, TN, Doug Sullivan and his wife Cheryl, of Arlington Heights, IL, Bill Sullivan and his wife Patsy, of Olathe, KS, Beth Scott and her husband Tim, of Piedmont, 1 sister, Wanda Dolansky and her husband John, of Piedmont, many grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 Sunday at the Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont with Rev. Jack Ruble officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the US Navy and the Missouri Honor Guard. Services are under the direction of Morrison-Worley Funeral Chapel.

Memorials have been suggested to the Casa Guadalupe Women's Shelter, Ellington, MO and may be sent to the funeral home.
