Mary Jane Epperson, 83, of New Canton, Ill., died at 2:45 p.m. May 26, 1999, in Hannibal as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Funeral services for Mrs. Epperson will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Chapel in Hannibal. The Rev. Margie McDaniel Woods will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Mrs. Epperson was born Sept. 18, 1915, in rural New Canton to Lawrence C. and Elva Gallaher Allensworth.
She was married to Clarence Epperson on Aug. 2, 1933, in Pittsfield, Ill. He preceded her in death Aug. 4, 1994.
Survivors include one brother, Herman Allensworth of New Canton; and one sister, Leona Gray of Barry, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Viola Main, Dorothy Hees and Luella Allensworth; and three brothers, Frank Allensworth, Casper Allensworth and Paul Allensworth.
Mrs. Epperson and her husband co-owned and co-operated a grain and livestock farm in the Baylis-New Canton area for many years until retirement. She had formerly worked for the Motorola Company in Quincy, Ill. She was a former member of the New Canton Chapter of O.E.S., and a member of the New Canton United Methodist Church where she was active in the quilting group.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the New Canton United Methodist Church.
Pallbearers will be Michael Epperson, Gary Epperson, Steven Epperson, David Allensworth, Jason Peters and Derrick Peters.
