Agnes E. "Aggie" (McCullum) Swedlund, Abingdon Chapel age 94, a resident of the Care Center of Abingdon the past three years, died at 11:08 pm Sunday, March 4, 2012 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born on May 21, 1917 near Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of James and Mary (Watters) McCullum. She married Larry Swedlund. He preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
Aggie is survived by two sons, Roger (and Linda Maas) McCullum of Peoria and Sid (and Vicki) Swedlund of Abingdon; four grandchildren B.J. McCullum, Chrissi Edwards, Marta McCullum and Josh Swedlund; three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including two great-nephews whom she help raise, Kirt Links and Pat Links.
She graduated from Avon High School in 1934 and had lived most of her adult life in Abingdon. She had worked at the Blue Bell Factory in Abingdon, Midwest Manufacturing in Galesburg, Abingdon Industries and for nineteen years as a nurse aide at the Care Center of Abingdon. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel with a prayer service led by Mrs. Eleanor Landon at 7:45 pm. Private burial of her ashes will be in the Abingdon Cemetery.
