Mr. Odelli was born September 24, 1881, in Comune di Ono S. Pietro, Provincia di Brescia, Italy, the son of Natali and Louisa Smaui Odelli.
He lived in Monongahela from the time he came to United States in March 1896,a lad aged 14 years. He was employed at district mines until 1902 when he started to work for the Pennsylvania Railroad Company at the roundhouse situated where is now the City parking lot at the foot of Second St. In 1907 when the P.R.R. moved the roundhouse to the Shire Oaks Yards Joe worked there for another two years.
As a young man Mr. Odelli was active in the old Monongahela Military Band in which he was a proficient cornet-player.
On May 30, 1909, in business for himself, he opened a confectionery-store in a small frame building at Third and Main St. In 1925 this store was moved to the rear of the lot and the present brick building, housing apartments, storerooms and offices, and his larger store quarters, was erected.
A respected business-man Mr. Odelli has been a citizen of the United States since 1900. On December 27, 1905 he married Paolina Campi; her death occurred on April 6, 1953.
He was a member of the Church of The Transfiguration. His fraternal affiliation was with Monongahela Aerie, No. 532, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Mr. Odelli is survived by two daughters, Louise Odelli, at home, and Alda, wife of George Young of Monongahela; three sons Nat, John and Joseph Jr. of Monongahela; five grandchildren- Mrs. Stanley Louttit of this city, Mrs. Robert G. Morgan of Washington, D.C, Patrick and Kenneth Young, and Terry Odelli of Monongahela; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews in Italy.
Friend will be received after seven o'clock this evening at the L. M. Frye Funeral Home, 427 West Main St. Monongahela.
