Rebecca Covert, a Southeast Portland resident, died of pneumonia Saturday in a Portland care center. She was 89.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Holgate Baptist Church. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery.
She was born Sept. 17, 1901, in Virginia. Her maiden name was Shephard. She moved to the Portland area in 1942 and worked at the Swan Island Shipyard during World War II.
Mrs. Covert worked as a cook for the Broiler restaurant for about five years, then owned and operated several Portland-area restaurants until her retirement in 1963. Her husband, James T. Covert, died in 1966.
