"The Highland Gazette" Hillsboro, Ohio, July 25, 1902
Obituary

Elsie, daughter of Henry C. and Martha Wright, was born in Hillsboro, Ohio, February 6, 1874, and died at her home in Samantha July 8, 1902.

She was married to A. D. Vaughn August 12, 1892.

Of this union three children were born - Harry, who lived but two short years to brighten the home and gladden the hearts of the parents; an infant, born to die; and Margene, yet too young to fully realize her great loss.

To human judgment her death seems untimely - just in the prime of her womanhood, energetic, ambitious, industrious, possessing talents and ability above average. She seemed destined to a life of usefulness, but He who rules the destiny of lives, as well as nations, has called her from labor to reward.

She was a birthright member of the Friends' Church. Modest, unselfish, kind-hearted, she was always ready to extend words of sympathy or lend a helping hand to those in trouble.

She was never robust, and last spring she suffered an attack of typhoid fever and for weeks her life seemed hanging in the balance, but the untiring ministrations of family and skillful ministration of family were able to stay the progress of disease, and she was able to be about her household duties until a little more than two weeks previous to her death, when she was stricken with spinal trouble.

Again loving hands did all that could be done to restore her to health, but this was not to be, and all day Tuesday, the faithful watchers knewthat Elsie was in the valley of the shadow of death, and when evening came, when twilight was deepening into night, her spirit crossed the river and returned unto the God was gave it.

Besides the husband and little daughter, she leaves a mother, two sisters, two brothers, and a number of relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

Card of Thanks

The husband and family desire to express their appreciation and thanks to all who assisted them during the sickness and death of their loved one.
