Mr. Bleyl was a B-29 right gunner during WWII, assigned to the 40th Bomb Group, 58th Bomb Wing, 20th Air Force. He survived a ditching in the Bay of Bengal that killed two of the crewmen. This occurred on the very first B-29 combat mission of 5 June 1944. The target was Bangkok, Thailand.
