Harry Younkin, 72, of 82 Gibson Terrace, died at 3:20 a.m. Sunday in Connellsville State General Hospital following a lingering illness.
He was born April 7, 1899, at Draketown, Pa., the son of the late Wesley and Ada Younkin. He lived in Connellsville since 1924.
A former employe at the Hyatt Ford Garage and the Goodwin Cleaners for 26 years, he retired in 1965 from the South Connellsville Schools as a custodian. After retiring he served as a school guard for six years.
He was a charter member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church, currently serving as a trustee and board member and was the former Sunday school superintendent for more than 20 years.
Surviving is his wife, Edna Fosbrink Younkin, one son, James of Nanty Glo, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Margaret) Beard of Cocoa, Fla.; and Mrs. James L (Pauline) Dick of Gales Ferry, Conn.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. John (Jean) Corteal of South Connellsville and Mrs. Merle (Madge) Loughman of Prosperity, Pa.; one stepson, Harry Fosbrink of Connellsville, R. D. 2; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Other survivors are six brothers, Cyrus of Nanty Glo, Grant of South Connellsville, Paul and Walter of Ursina, Robert of South Bend, Ind., and Chester of Confluence; one sister, Mrs. Mary Hiles of Toledo, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Olive Whipkey Younkin in 1937, two brothers and two sisters.
