Etta M. Trucks, daughter of Abe and Melisse Trucks was born in Ohio Oct. 22, 1870. When seven years of age her parents came to Iowa and settled in Carrol county. Here she received her schooling and grew to young womanhood. On May 8, 1888 she was united in marriage to Horace M. Sigler. To this union two children were born, one girl, Della, now Mrs. Wilber Holroyd of Estherville, and one boy, Ralph, who passed away at the age of one month.
Mrs. Sigler joined the Friends church of Richland township. She was also a member of the Rebecca lodge at Graettinger. The Siglers lived in Carrol county until 1900 when they moved to Milford where they lived four years; then to Princeton, Minn., where they remained but one year; then back to Carrol county for two years, after which time they moved to Emmet county living in High Lake township until 1936, when they came to Estherville. They have resided here ever since.
Mrs. Sigler is survived by her husband, H.M. Sigler, and one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Holroyd, and three grandchildren: Dale, Dorothy and Erma Holroyd; one grandson. Earl M. Holroyd, who was the eldest of the grandchildren, was killed in the service of our country January 11, 1945, in Belgium. Others surviving are one brother, Frank Trucks of Coon Rapids, Ia.,and three sisters, Emma Conner also of Coon Rapids, Nellie Higgins of Estherville and Bessie Huntley of Ceylon, Minn. Mrs. Etta Sigler, 76, Dies Following Stroke
Mrs. Etta Sigler, 76, died unexpectedly Sat. [August 31, 1946] morning, at her home following a stroke.
She was born in 1870 and had lived in Emmet county since 1917. She moved to Estherville in 1936 and lived here until the time of her death.
Funeral services were held at 3:30 Monday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. C. J. Semans officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 5, 1946)
