Obituary: DARLENE CROMPTON, FEBRUARY 18, 1998. Darlene Joyce Engeman Crompton, passed away Saturday, February 14, 1998, in Portland, Oregon.
Darlene, was born on Sept. 5th, 1940 in Atchison, Kansas to Joseph and Mollie Engeman. She lived in Kansas until she was in the 5th grade and then moved to Scio, Oregon where she graduated from high school, in 1958. She attended Phagens Beauty and Cosmetology School in Salem, Oregon, graduating in 1961.
She worked in various beauty salons in the Williamette Valley in the early 60's. On May 4, 1963, she married Raymond Vernell Crompton, of Portland who survives.
Also, surviving are son Troy of Portland; parents Joe and Evelyn Engeman of Portland; sister Charlotte Lane of Portland; and four grandsons. Son Todd died in 1966 and granddaughter Heather Crompton died in 1989. Her father passed away just 13 hours after her death.
Funeral will be held on Thursday, February 19th at 1:00 P.M. at The Little Chapel of the Chimes at Sunnside. The burial will also be at The Little Chapel of the Chimes at Sunnyside, in Portland.(Src: Portland Oregonian Newspaper, Portland, Or., February 15, 1998.)
