The husband of Nancy Dianah Martin who was the daughter of Isaac Martin and Nancy Younger.

Hugh Montgomery Wellborn's parents' plantation was called "The Bends" on the Yadkin River and was over 12,000 acres. It was adjacent to the plantation of Governor Montfort Stokes named Morne Rouge in the area where the W. Kerr Scott Dam & Reservoir is now in Wilkes County.
