Ellen Jean Mitchell 71, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, in Ft. Myers, Florida. She was a resident of Greenwood.

She was born April 24, 1932, in Bramble, Indiana. Her parents were John Austin Alderson and Joanna (Smith) Alderson-Dyal. She married Ralph Mitchell on June 17, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 19, 2003. Survivors include three sons, Bruce and Dennis Alan Mitchell both of Greenwood and Eric Mitchell of Ft. Myers, FL; four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

She was employed for several years by United Standard Assurance as an Insurance Underwriter. She was a member of Toastmistress and Psi Iota Xi Sorority, Zeta Epsilon Chapter.

Rev. Joe Bottorff will conduct a service at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Forest Lawn Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, St. Rd. 135 Chapel. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce and Dennis Alan Mitchell, both of Greenwood, and Eric Mitchell of Fort Myers, Fla.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was employed by United Standard Assurance as an insurance underwriter for several years.

She was a member of Toastmistress and Psi Iota Xi sorority, Zeta Epsilon Chapter.
