This memorial is being maintained in remembrance of Robert Barrows of Syracuse, NY, a descendant of Freeman Barrows, Jr. and his wife Asenath Vaill. Prior to his death, Robert, in part, and the present writer collaborated on detailing the origins of the missionaries to the Osage Indians at Harmony Mission (1821-1835) at what is now Bates County, Missouri. Asenath (Vaill) Barrows was a dau. of Rev. William Fowler Vaill, the superintendent of Harmony Mission's sister Union Mission to the Osage Indians (1820-1835) at present-day northeast OK.

Just prior to Robert's death, he completed an outline in pamphlet form of the Barrows family. Following his death all of his research was donated by his son to the Bates County Historical Society.

Freeman Barrow's bio and the summary of his children are forthcoming.
