Wales, Ebenezer Esq., died Apr. 12, 1774, age 77 yrs.Deacon Ebenezer Wales, Esq., s. of Dea. Nathaniel Wales, Sr. & Susanna Blake, b. of record June 25 (bapt. June 28) 1696 at Milton, Mass. He d. testate Apr. 12, 1774 at Union, Conn., Æ 78 (g.s.) He wrote his will at Union May 7, 1772, added a codicil July 29, 1773 and further explanation of his will Sept. , 1773. The codicil and explanation were proved April 22, 1774 and the original will, together with his estate inventory, proved May 2, 1774 at the behest of sons Solomon and Elijah who were the executors.

Descendants should be aware that historically all of Ebenezer's children by both wives were legally born, and both he and his two wives legally died, in Windham County, Conn. Tolland County, the present-day location of the town of Union, was not constituted from portions of eastern Hartford and western Windham counties until Oct. 13, 1785.

On Oct. 20, 1719 in Windham, Conn. Ebenezer m. 1) Esther Smith, dau. of Lieut. Elisha Smith & Elizabeth Wheelock, b. Nov. 24, 1702 in Windham. She d. Oct. 10, 1737 in Windham, Æ 35 (g.s.). They had the following ten children recorded in Windham:

• iii. Ebenezer Wales, Jr., b. Dec. 10, 1724, d. in Union, Conn. Apr. 20, 1751.

• iv. Capt. Elisha Wales, b. Mar. 18, 1727/8, d. Apr. 6, 1788; m. Apr. 23, 1747 in Windham, Mary Abbe, dau. of John Abbe & Mary Palmer, b. Sept. 10, 1726 in Windham, Conn.

• v. Solomon Wales, b. Nov. 19, 1729, d. Mar. 20, 1805 in Union, Conn., Æ 76; m. Oct. 3, 1754 in Union, Lucy Strong.

• vi. Elizabeth Wales, b. Nov. 28, 1730, d. in Norwich, Conn. May 13, 1763, Æ 33; m. May 21, 1753 in Norwich, Conn., Joseph Ayer, Jr. Their daughter "Sarry" is specifically named and bequeathed a sum of money in grandfather Ebenezer Wales' will, with Sarry's unnamed siblings then living to also receive from their grandfather's will.

• vii. Eleazer Wales, b. Apr. 20, 1732, d. Aug. 20, 1794 in Chester, Mass., Æ 63; m. Dec. 4, 1757 in Windham, Conn., Sarah Norton, dau. of Isaac Norton & Sarah Seymour, b. Aug. 5, 1741 in Farmington, Conn. She d. Feb. 4, 1817 at Otisco, NY, Æ 76.

• ix. Anna Wales (errantly called Isaac in the printed Windham vitals), b. July 27, 1735, purportedly d. Sept. 10, 1807 in Coos County, NH; m. Dec. 31, 1753 in Union, Conn., Abijah Larned, s. of William & Hannah Larned, b. Apr. 26, 1729 at Killingly, Conn. As Anna Larned, she was left four acres of land in her father's will "adjoining the land now occupied by my son-in-law Larned."

Oct. 5, 1742 in Norwich. He d. Aug. 15, 1829 in Lempster, NH while residing with the family of his son, Dr. Truman Abell.
