A.D. Derryberry, 71, of Fort Smith, Arkansas passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 in a local hospital.

He was a retired engineer coordinator for Dow Chemical in Houston, Texas where he had worked for 27 years. He previously was the owner of Derryberry excavating and held a California State Contractor's license. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Barling. A lifelong outdoorsman he enjoying hunting and fishing and had a love for horseracing. He owned and trained horses with his son Mark while living in Houston and was a proud father of his twin daughter's Lynnanne and Leanne who are both former Miss Arkansas USA.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Monday, March 5, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Barling, Arkansas with burial at Steep Hill Cemetery under the direction of Ocker-Putman Funeral Home of Fort Smith, Arkansas.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Gertrude Lynne Derryberry of the home, twin daughters, Lynnanne Nicely of Fort Smith, AR and Leanne Canak and her husband Curtis of Ashburn, Virginia; one son Mark Derryberry of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Ryan and Kurt Starkey both of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Jessica Arnold of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Michael Derryberry of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Aladean Thornton and Lyndola Phipps both of Dover, Arkankas; one brother Kenneth Derryberry of Dover, Arkansas and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kurt Starkey, Curtis Canak, Peter Incaudo, Mark Nicely, Jimmy Franklin and Marty Starkey.
