"John Charles Adams, 75, Woodstock, died Friday, April 13, 2007, in the arms of his family at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Rhodes Hall. He fought a two year battle with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow, caused by chemical and asbestos inhalation and absorption. He retired from the Scotts Company in 1996 after 31 years in trionized process. He was a retired farmer, and he and his wife of 56 years, Elinor May Coe Adams, owned Adams Hereford Farms. His love affair with the white faced Hereford began in 1945, and lasted his lifetime. With children and grandchildren at the lead straps, they exhibited in show rings across the nation. In 2005, he was the recipient of the American Hereford Association Golden Award, honoring over 60 years in the Hereford Industry, and in 2006, the farm was honored by the Buckeye Hereford Association as an inductee in their Hall of Merit. He was born September 20, 1931, in Overda, Kentucky, the youngest child of Charlie and Lorna Carter Adams. He graduated in 1949 from Union Rural High School in Milford Center. He was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church."
