MADISON—Miss Alice I. Alford, age 94, formerly of 1414 Whenona Drive died on Thursday, April 8, 1982, after an extended illness at a local nursing home.
Born on August 7, 1887, in Madison, she was a life-long Madison resident. She attended the University of Wisconsin and received her letters in science degree in the early 1900’s. While attending the university she was a charter member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and remained very active in it for most of her life. She was a member of Christ Presbyterian Church and of its Circle One. Her father, Frank Alford, was once mayor of Madison.
Survivors are a sister, Marie Nielson of Madison; a niece, Virginia Valenza of Florida; and a nephew, George Miller of Atlanta, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 12, at 2 p.m. at the Fitch-Lawrence-San Fillippo Funeral Home at 6021 University Avenue with the Reverend T. Stewart Coffman of Christ Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
