Enlisted on Oct 11, 1861 at New York City, Ny as a Private. In Oct 1861 he mustered into Co. M, 5th Ny Cavalry. Renlisted on May 28, 1862 into Co. I, 13th Regiment, New York Heavy Artillery (State Militia). On Sept 28, 1862 he was mustered out.
