MALCOLM L JONES, a longtime resident and civic leader in Aurora, died Tuesday in his home.

A graduate of West Aurora High School, Mr Jones earned a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College and a post-graduate degree from Dartmouth's Tuck School of Business Administration. He was awarded an honorary Degree of Doctor of Humanities from Aurora College in 1981.

Mr Jones began working in Richards-Wilcox Mfg Co in 1927 and later served as vice president and a member of the board of directors.

Described as a man dedicated to his family and community, Mr Jones was a lifelong member of New England Congregational Church. He also served on the board of directors of Aurora College, the Aurora Foundation, Home Savings & Loan Association, Aurora YMCA and YWCA, First American Bank and Merchants Bank. He was member and past president of the Rotary Club and the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1980.

In June, the YWCA dedicated the Lydia J and Malcolm L Jones Child Care Center to honor Mr Jones and his wife.

Services will be held at 12:30 pm, Saturday at New England Congregational Church, 406 W Galena St, Aurora.
