This Monument is erected to his memory
by his bereaved Mother and Widow.

Is laid a woman's dearest pride.
A flower that scarce had blossomed full
Ere he in early manhood died.
'Tis thus, 'tis thus, the nearest ties
On earth are rudely riven.
