Charles Foss Kern was the son of Joseph and Rebecca Jane (Foss) Kern. He was born in Mulberry, Clay County, Kansas 20 Feb. 195 Nov 1874. He remained in Kansas while his father, mother and brothers traveled across the prairie in a covered wagon from Kansas to Colorado. He had four bothers; Fred B, Guy, Walter and Harry. (His father was a carpenter and had a hardware store in Sterling Colorado.)
He was married to Edith Catherine Rawlings. They were married April 01, 1900 in Soloman Rapids, Kansas. They had four children: Paul, Ray Joseph, Nellie Mae and Harry Charley. Charles and Edith moved to California (between 1935 and 1940). He died 17 May 1960in Redding, Shasta Co., CA. Edith died in 1974.
