HEBER. Oct. 19– Sgt. Jimmie N. Mair, son of George A. Mair, Heber, has been assigned to duty at Harmon Air Force Base on the island of Guam. Air Force offical announced. He is a member of a personnel section. Sgt Mair attended attended Wasatch High School and served in the Navy from 1943 to 1946.

Heber City – S/Sgt. Jimmie Mair, 22, son of George Mair of Heber City, was killed on Iwo Jima Sunday as a result of a vehicle accident. He was born June 15, 1926 in Heber City a son of George A. and Annie Barnes Mair. He was a student of Wasatch High School and of Wasatch Stake Seminary, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joining the naval air force when he was 17 years old S/Sgt. Mair had served three years, most of the time in combat in Saipan and other Pacific localities. (He was a veteran of air battle in the Pacific Theatre.) Re-entering the service, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps two years ago and was sent for training at Fort Lewis, Washington and California and was sent to Guam last fall.
Survivors, besides his father, included eight brothers and sisters; Mrs. Madie Gilbert, Dick Mair, Salt Lake City; Jack and Allen Mair, Park City; Alex, Willis, and Billy J Mair, and Mrs. Janet Bates, Heber City.
The body will be brought to Heber City for funeral services and burial.
